Creating an experience
Last week in class we created a new level with the goal of creating an experience and setting an emotion!
- created a new level
- created a portal that leads to new level
- added foliage types (pine trees, shrubs, rocks)
- added stone walls
- created a landscape with hills with moss texture
- added dense fog
- created an emissive material
- created a fire visual effect using Niagara (ended up being used for glowing particles around my ethereal object
- attached a light to the player model
- rotated a cubed on its x and z axis, translated the z axis all on a timeline
- added a post processing volume to add noise to the camera when approaching the object
- imported eerie music
I decided to go for an eerie and ethereal emotion that makes you question where you are, what you are looking at and almost create an otherworldly/horror feel to my level.
I added a lot of stylized foliage such as pine trees, rocks, dead shrubs, and decided on encasing the player in a fenced area where they can walk around and explore the forest that they are in.
A big part that took a while to really get was the thick dense fog to envelop the screen as the player walks around, scattering light and working really well with my red emissive color to make the scene even more creepy.
I had a lot of fun making this world and cannot wait for people to try it out!
